I’ve Got an Issue: Animal Cruelty
I feel that we live in a society where we are socially obligated to take care of those who cannot fend or speak for themselves. I feel that animals are a central concern in this category. There are numerous instances of animal cruelty which are reported every year, and hundreds more that go unnoticed. Throughout my entire life, I have been blessed with the ability to own a pet. I have found animals to be a wonderful source of companionship and enjoyment and could not imagine my life without them. At the same time, I feel that our nation, states and communities have a responsibility to the creatures from which we find so much enjoyment, to protect them as they cannot do for themselves. We must implicate severe penalties in instances of animal cruelty to force people to consider the consequences before they act. If we band together, we can make a difference and protect our pets, which are an important part of our family.
I wholeheartedly agree with your post and do think that taking care of animals should be a priority. I like the fact that it is personal, which also makes it persuasive. I do think that addressing the objections and more reasons why would be helpful to make it more persuasive.
ReplyDeleteThis post hits home because I have a small puppy that I consider part of my family. One main setback is that the argument is too repetive. Also, there should be more specifics, such as cases of animal cruelty.
ReplyDeleteI really liked how this blog started off. It caught me up in the moment right away. One thing that I could say for you to do in this blog is to put more examples so animal owners can relate and even people that dont own dogs can relate to that too. It was really good though.
ReplyDeleteI was convinced by your blog completely. You did a great job sharing your personal story but I think you could give a little more data. Another way it could be more persuasive is telling me stories about animals that have been abused.
ReplyDeleteYou definately convinced me. You probably didn't have to though because I have been strong on this issue my wholse life. Making it personal talking about you owning a pet is a great way of convincing the audience. Address objections (sadly there are some) would make it even more convincing. I loved it though, I stand there right there with you.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for your issue! This is truly a problem that should never go unnoticed. Anyone who preys on a poor helpless animal has severe social, moral, and mental issues, if you ask me. You've convinced me: woe be the day I get my hands on anyone commiting an act of animal cruelty!
